SoulCollage®️, a therapeutic arts process beloved and practiced in 49 countries, is a self-discovery tool that guides you in creating a personal deck of imaged cards with deep personal meaning to help you with life’s questions. Each card represents an aspect of your soul, personality, emotions, community, or, chakra (vital energy center). And all you need to begin your deck, is a good pair of scissors, glue, a 5x8 mat board or card stock or index card, and images (from magazines, photos, brochures, or internet).
Though finished cards are usually quite stunning even for those who claim "no artistic skills," they aren't made for the purpose of visual art and beauty. Rather, as they reflect aspects of self, soul, and the archetypes that live through and around us, their purpose is to help the card maker realize the depth of her innate wisdom.

"What I wrote while looking at my Card felt like me, but also something bigger than I could have imagined ahead of time."
~Julie, San Antonio, TX, U.S.A "How is it that I'm surprised by what I end up writing, every time! By now, I should just expect that I don't have to know everything ahead of time, and that I can just trust the process to bring me the insight I need." ~Ellen, Vancouver, Canada "When I need guidance around a challenge I'm facing, I go to my Cards, pose a question, pick randomly, and journal the response. I somehow get wisdom and clarity from this process EVERY time." ~Joann, New Jersey, NY, U.S.A |
Workshop Prep for a Virtual Gathering:
While you wait for your materials packet to arrive, prepare for this workshop by finding a central image you like that can be cut and pasted onto a 5x8 mat board, index card, or other sturdy paperboard material. Central images can be natural or symbolic objects, people, or animals--any noun in visual form from a magazine or brochure will work well. For this intro workshop, this central image should symbolically represent strength, joy, or curiosity. If you can find a background image that seems a "good match" to this central image, you have the entirety of your first SoulCollage®️ Card. First time Card makers often find background images that feature nature settings. But, most important, is that you have a central image to work with in our workshop. You can always glue it down to your mat board later when your materials packet arrives from me. No Words on Cards: In order to tap into creative intuitive flow, thereby bypassing the thinking mind's tendency to overwork its need for logic, words are NOT added to SoulCollage®️ Cards. Instead, we use the power of images, color, and even cutting and gluing, to stay in the body's primal need to communicate through pictures. And yet, making a Card is only the first step in the SoulCollage®️ process. Using a set of journalling prompts to voice each Card, is where the real magic is. We'll do that part together. Bring to the Workshop: 1) A central image that captures your attention, and a background image if you can find one, to "support" the central image. 2) A Journal and pen. 3) Your heart for personal exploration in the context of sisterhood with a diverse group of women. |
